WOODEND MILLS MOSSLEY

Built in 1848, Woodend Mill is the last of the three counties cotton mills. Production ceased in 1951 and the mill became home to various light industries.

Woodend Mill has now developed into a thriving cultural hub with over 30 artists based there including painters, photographers, sculptors, jewellers and musicians alongside a theatre group and dance academy.

The mill is set in wonderful surroundings alongside the canal and river Tame, and a great place to visit and experience the new industry that remains in this historical treasure of the past.

In 2007, The Woodend Artists Group was formed with the objective to create a network for local artists to thrive, share thoughts and ideas and create a community that is positive and vibrant.
